Wedding photography at The Royal Toby, Rochdale

I recently spent a rather long, and enjoyable day at The Royal Toby in Rochdale, photographing the wedding of Gemma and Liam.
It was a long day because I like to tell the story of the whole day in pictures, not leave chapters of the storybook out, and I knew that there was something special happening after the first dance had finished, namely that the groom was going to sing a song specially for the bride. Not something I wanted to miss...
The day was amazing, and a good time was most definitely had by all. What more could a wedding couple ask for.

The best wedding photography customer comments ever...

I am privileged to have received some amazing comments from customers in the course of my work. Sometimes they just stop me in my tracks and cause me to take a deep breath, wait a moment, and take a little time to just think about the implications of what is being said.
When you go to the market with what you do, it can take a little time for your confidence to grow to the point where you believe in yourself as much as others tell you that you should.
Comments like the following just help to move you towards that place.

U Did such a good job that Day, worked ur socks off!

I've never seen a photographer so dedicated and work so hard and long, very excited to see the rest, they look amazing

“We choose Howard as our wedding photographer after seeing the results of a picture he took of us at the Nestle Charity ball in 2010. From the moment we contacted him about the wedding he made us feel at ease and we quickly realised he was the right choice for our wedding.
The planning, the day and the review and delivery of the photographs were all handled professionally and personally, the service we received was exceptional.
Howard spent the whole day with us from the house through to reception and we never once felt he was in the way. Howard managed to take excellent pictures whilst staying in the background allowing us to get the most from our day.
We enjoyed our day and the photographs Howard has provided to us were not just of the day as we remember it but he also got loads of shots we missed! We could not have found a better person or photographer to have at our wedding.
I can highly recommend Howard for anyone planning a wedding.” March 28, 2011

“I hired Howard on a number of occasions as our Event Photographer at Manchester Golf Club, and most recently to take my wedding photographs. Howard's personality is such that my husband and I felt comfortable in front of the lens. The results are a true record of the day.
I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Howard.” August 5, 2011

"Thank-you so much for our beautiful wedding album. We absolutely love it and it truly is a treasured possession. I think the pages will be worn away soon, the amount of times we're looking at it.".

Howard's response...
Thank-you so much to the people who have given me the privilege of sharing your special day and being the one to capture it in pictures, and for taking the time to share your thoughts and recommendations on what I do. It really does mean the world to me, and has had me in tears on more than one occasion, to feel that what I do will be bringing you so much pleasure for many years to come.
Here's to many more.....

Mops.....

An interesting little commercial photography job raised its head recently....shooting mops to go on the packaging for a new range of mops by Vileda.
Here's one of the shots taken. Wifey was just out of camera left dipping the mop in the soapy water (not something she does often...)

Wedding Photography at Whitley Hall Hotel, Sheffield

I always like shooting a wedding at  new venue, as it brings a freshness to the day, and provides an opportunity to go round sussing out the best spots around the grounds, either before the day (if local), or prior to going to meet the bride for the preparation shots.
What a pleasant surprise met me as I arrived at Whitley Hall Hotel. Nestled in a small valley on the outskirts of Sheffield is a little gem of a venue with great character, lovely grounds, very pleasant and helpful staff, and a cheeky peacock that keeps popping up every now and then. It even appeared at the bedroom window where the bride was getting ready and peeped in while I was doing the dress shots.
Here is a selection of the shots from the day...

The end of the first dance almost always provides a photo opportunity of some sort...
