Newborn Baby photographs

Another very satisfied set of new parents this evening. What a pleasure to show Mum & Dad the photos of their new addition, Billy.

Family portrait shoot for Christmas.

One of the inevitabilities of the profession I am in is the fact that people will be wanting pictures of their family to give out as Christmas presents.
This is a part of the service I offer, even when the request comes with a relatively short time to get the job finished before the wrapping up needs to be done. I understand that this time of year involves meeting customers' needs, and that may involve going the extra mile a little to get things together.
This was one such photo shoot, not that I mind in the slightest. It is always a pleasure to meet a new family and to have the privilege of providing them with pictures they can treasure for a long time to come.
I also had the pleasure of supplying an amazing product, where a mosaic of photographs are printed onto a single sheet, to offer a selection of the customer's favourite shots in a single, dynamic layout. I call it the matrix.
Here's a selection of the finished shots, together with a picture of the finished product.

Nursery Photography in Rochdale

At a recent nursery photography shoot in Rochdale, there was a baby girl who would not settle for a photo. We tried several times but she was just too upset. As the morning went on she eventually fell asleep and, when she was ready for waking, the nursery assistant brought her to the bean bag. As she awoke, we managed to get some of my favourite shots I've ever taken at a nursery, and the mum was happy to let me share them with you.

Self Portrait

While trying out a new lighting set-up for a photo shoot recently, I managed to get a rare picture of myself. Usually, I hate being on the other side of the camera, but I rather liked this one, so decided to keep it.

Lifestyle portraits in Manchester

Last week I had the privilege of shooting a set of pictures for a really nice guy to send back to his family in Africa, to show them where he is living, how well he is looking and what he gets up to in his spare time.

We ended up at Plattfields Park, Manchester City's training ground, Manchester Town Hall, Manchester Wheel, Urbis, Market Street and the Manchester Hilton Hotel.

Armed with a few outfits, and more beanies than your local sports shop, out we went to capture some images.

Here is a selection of my favourite shots from the day.

School Photography and Christmas Fairs

I have just come to the end of a very busy run up to Christmas with school and nursery photographs and a couple of school Christmas fairs. This is in addition to the weddings, commercial photography and event photography.

Despite the busyness, and the pressure to deliver orders in time for Christmas, I have been totally blessed with the privilege of producing some of my best pictures to date for the parents.

Obviously, child protection issues prevent me from sharing most of them with you, but I have obtained parental permission to share a few of my favourites.

I believe in giving the children enough time to relax in order to get the best pictures possible and, by giving them a bit more time, I am (in a lot of cases) able to offer the parents a selection of pictures to choose from, rather than just the one that I think is the best.

One of the pictures below is from a charity fund-raising Christmas Market, just one of the ways in which I am able to support worthy causes through my work.

Maternity Photo Shoot

On Tuesday I had the pleasure of doing a maternity photo shoot for a lovely young couple. As a bit of a teaser for them, and a chance to share just a few of the pictures I am now working on, here is a small selection.
This is the first portrait shoot where my wife has come along and she enjoyed helping me with posing and maintaining the modesty of the young lady. Can't wait to show them the full set when they're finished.

A day in the park

I love capturing images of people when they are relaxed and enjoying theselves.

Not much comes as close to this as a child playing on a park, as these lovely pictures of Layla show.

The shot in the tube is one of my favourites where, exposing for the shade inside the tube, the outside sunshine has been rendered completely white, giving the surreal glow around her.
